In the October 5 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 242 new confirmed cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 242 new confirmed cases there are 8 in the Far North West zone, 10 in the Far North East zone, 35 in the North West zone, 12 in the North Central zone, 10 in the North East zone, 59 in the Saskatoon zone, 6 in the Central West zone, 16 in the Central East zone, 8 in the Regina zone, 14 in the South Central zone, and 14 in the South East zone.

There are 11 new confirmed cases in the South West zone - 3 in the South West subzone 1, and 8 in the South West subzone 2.

There are 39 new cases with pending residence information.

Thirteen cases with pending residence information have been reassigned as follows - 2 to the Far North West zone, 1 to the Far North East zone, 1 to the North West zone, 3 to the North Central zone, 4 to the Central  East zone, 1 to the South Central zone, and 1 to the South East zone.

More then one-fourth (28.5%) of new cases are in the 20-39 age category,

More than one in seven (15.3%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers is 427 (35.4 new cases per 100,000 population).

That  brings the provincial total number of cases to 69,331, of which 4.385 are considered active.

There are 241 active cases in the South West zone - 108 in the South West subzone 1, and 133 in the South West subzone 2.

There were 10 new deaths reported today, 1 in the South West zone.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths to 726.

There are 482 recoveries reported, 32 of them in the South West zone.

That brings the provincial total number of recoveries to 64,220.

There are 340 people in the hospital - 267 receiving inpatient care, and 73 in intensive care.

Of those 340 patients, 259 (76%) were not fully vaccinated.

To date, there has been 1,149,729 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday there were 2,378 COVID-19 tests processed.

The Chinook School Division has reported students with COVID at the following schools - Cabri School, Ecole Centennial School, Fairview School, and the Swift Current Comprehensive High School. There is, as of October 4, an outbreak declared at the Fairview School (Grade 6 Classroom).

Of the 12,252 variants of concern cases identified by whole genome sequencing in the province, 7,123 are Alpha (B.1.1.7), 10 are Beta (B.1.351), 484 are Gamma (P.1), and 4,635 are Delta (B.1.617.2).

There were 1,572 COVID-19 vaccines administered yesterday, 62  of those in the South West zone.

That brings the total number of tests administered in the province to 1,576,702.

There are 743,211 residents that are fully vaccinated.
