This week's snowstorm has put a bit of a delay on work on Assiniboia's new multi-use facility

President of the Assiniboia Civic Improvement Association, Curtis Nelson, says luckily it shouldn't have too large of an impact on the project.

"It's slated to resume construction next week, doing all of the foundation work and putting a lot of piles and everything in. They've got it all scheduled to the minute, and they're still on schedule to finish in July of 2022."

The project received $11.5 million in federal and provincial funding last month, and the Assiniboia Civic Improvement Association used their annual Spring Fever Lotto and 50/50 to raise money for the remaining cost.

While the Assiniboia Spring Fever Lotto is over and prize draws have been made, the 50/50 is running for a few more weeks with tickets still available.

"May 30th is the draw date for the 50/50 so we'll probably be approaching that $175,000 range by that time," says Nelson. "I want to thank all the people too who have supported the lottery this year and in the past. Without you, we wouldn't be able to be in the position that we are to have this rink going up right now."

Currently, the 50/50 jackpot is sitting at over $156,000.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the lotto line at 1-888-289-3267, or by visiting SpringFeverLotto.com.
