Last week Blenders was excited to announce their calendar of acts for their upcoming season.

Keely Williams, Executive and Artistic Director of Blenders provided some insight into what those attending the concert series can expect.

"We've got eleven great shows. Nine are in our season so we've got John Wort Hannam, Megan Nash, Gunner & Smith, Field Guide, Celeigh Cardinal. We've got our three rebooked shows that were postponed from the 2020 season so that's Roxanne Potvin, Kaia Kater, and Ryan McMahon and we have Kobo Town."

Williams adds there will also be two special shows featuring Rose Cousins in January and Blackie and the Rodeo Kings will take the stage in February.

Williams lets concert-goers know what they can expect from the season.

"It's a big blend. We did focus on a lot of prairie acts this year to help people reduce their travel as required. So we've got our star of the Saskatchewan Megan Nash, we've got Field Guide and Celeigh Cardinal out of Edmonton. John Wort Hannam is out of Lethbridge and Gunner & Smith are also out of Saskatoon. So we've got lots of great prairies acts."

Reflecting on the types of music being showcased this year, Williams says there will be folk, rock, and a little bit of pop including Kobo Town who perform an awesome mix of dance hall and calypso. Rose Cousins is a folky songwriter, Kaia Kater performs a great show while playing the banjo and its Americana and mountain music but with a Canadian spin on it. Roxanne Potvin is a little bit of blues and a little bit of pop and Ryan McMahon is a singer/songwriter who is a little bit country and a little bit rock.

In terms of this year specifically, Williams says they are working on making sure artists reflect the diversity of Canada, and they are focusing on prairie artists and working to champion the great Saskatchewan music scene.

Focus this season will not only be on the big acts like Blackie and the Rodeo Kings but also on supporting the up and comings as well as it's important to give them a venue in which to play, according to Williams.

Tickets for the season are available at Pharmasave and those that have tickets to previously re-booked shows those tickets will be honored. Williams adds that if someone wants to buy a seasons pass but they already have tickets to three of the shows they can contact her directly and she will provide them with a discounted season's pass.

The Blenders season will kick off on October 9th with John Wort Hannam.
