The Western Hockey League announced today that Broncos defenceman Owen Pickering, and forward Conor Geekie have been named as First Team All-Stars by the league.

Pickering, out of St. Adolphe, Manitoba, played in 59 games with the Broncos this year, tallying a career high in points, and assists. His 39 assists are good for 12th among blueliners in the WHL, while his 46 points are good for 16th among defenders. The Pittsburgh Penguins prospect also scored seven goals this season. He led the Broncos defence core in points and assists and was second in goals.

Through his career, Pickering has scored 27 goals and added 106 assists for 133 points in 205 games. He is inside the Top-10 on the Modern All-Time Broncos list (Since 1986) among defencemen in points and assists, and is tied for 10th on that list in goals.

Pickering was originally drafted in the ninth-round by the Broncos in the 2019 WHL Draft, before being a first-round NHL pick by the Penguins (22nd Overall) in 2022.

Meanwhile, Geekie, out of Strathclair, Manitoba, joined the Broncos via trade with the Wenatchee Wild on January 4. In just 29 games with the Broncos, Geekie has scored 23 goals and has added 27 assists for 50 points. Overall, the Arizona Coyotes prospect has 43 goals, and 56 assists for 99 points in 55 games. He finished 11th in the WHL in points, and tied for ninth in goals, but his 1.80 points-per-game were fourth in the WHL. His 16 powerplay goals were tied for third in the WHL as well.

Geekie, the 2nd overall pick in the 2019 WHL Draft, became the 11th overall pick of the Arizona Coyotes at the 2022 NHL Draft.

Pickering, Geekie, and the rest of the Broncos will be in action for Game One of the WHL Playoffs on Friday, March 29 against Lethbridge. Tickets are available at tickets.scbroncos.com or The Stable.
