If you are driving around Swift Current this last week you may have noticed some cameras pointing into intersections. It’s not a speed trap or red light camera. The City has hired a consultant to review the City’s Master Traffic Plan and update it for the future.

The cameras are part of the information gathering phase and should wrap up later this week. The cameras are used to count traffic in different areas of the City and design a master traffic flow. Out of that, a recommendation is made on what the City will need to do for infrastructure projects in the near future.

Council approved this at the last council meeting before the election. The project was approved at an investment of $56,520, almost $70,000 below budget.
