The opposition Conservatives have maintained their seat in Medicine Hat - Cardston - Warner.
Glen Motz won a federal by-election in the southeastern Alberta riding on Monday, defeating five other candidates, including Liberal candidate Stan Sakamoto and Bev Waege of the New Democrats. The Medicine Hat - Cardston - Warner constituency encompasses the city of Medicine Hat and communities in the Cypress, Forty Mile, Warner and Cardston counties.
The by-election was called after the sudden passing of Jim Hillyer in March.
David Anderson, Conservative MP for Cypress Hills-Grasslands, offered his congratulations to Glen Motz on Twitter Monday night:
Congrats to Glen Motz, the newest MP in Canada. Alberta CP volunteers thump the imported Ontario Liberal campaign team and their carbon tax.
