Over a couple of hundred southwest children, parents, grandparents, and family members flocked to the Stockade in Swift Current yesterday morning for the City's 'Family Festival'.

Admission was only $3 for each family, including families of any size, and the event ran from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Val Choo-Foo, the in-motion community facilitator for the City of Swift Current, enjoys seeing the many different families connect in a fun way.

"Lots of families are out here enjoying during the school holidays," Choo-Foo said. "Hopefully there's something for everybody."

Activities included bouncy castles, face painting, Zumba from Twist of Fate, toys, colouring, carnival games, and more. Cookies and snacks were also provided along with coffee for the parents.

Choo-Foo highlights speaking with a grandmother and her grandchildren who enjoyed playing with mini curling rocks together and the Zumba drumsticks that got dozens of kids moving.

"We have volunteers from the Great Plains College here today, the Southwest Newcomer Welcome Centre came out with lots of cool activities and games," noted Choo-Foo. "Subway donated the cookies and we had Sputtergotch donate a fantastic prize that everyone's putting their name in for a draw.

"Most importantly, I thank everyone in our community for supporting these events and coming to have some fun."
