The First Responders team will feature the Swift Current Fire Department, RCMP, and EMS alongside some local NHL Alumni. While the habs will have four local residents part of their team, two player, a coach, and a trainer.

Jerrod Schafer, a member of the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame’s Board of Directors and Mayor of the City of Swift Current spoke after the press conference about the excitement level for this event.

"It's great that we get to host this event in Swift Current and showcase the facility itself. I'm also a habs fan at heart so excited for that, it's going to be a celebration of hockey and lots of ways to celebrate community involvement as well," he said.

Proceeds from the event will be going towards the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame and the City's Safe Places Youth Certified Initiative.

"It's great, I think I'm doing cheque presentation this week from another organization (to the Safe Places initiative). We've had a couple of contributions to the program and I think the great thing about that is, what it's doing is we've set up a grant program so there are non-profits operating in Swift Current, (they) can apply to have the respected training covered, so the more funds we can continue to raise on a (regular) basis, we think it removes hurdles to folks getting certified, which is good for the community," Schafer said.

Tickets go on sale October 15th and can be purchased at City Hall, The Swift Current Broncos Stable, Canadian Tire, Living Sky Casino, and Pharmasave.
