The basketball season is now underway for the SWAC senior teams and will resume on Tuesday night. 

The senior teams will play their second week of games on Tuesday, with the Gull Lake girls travelling to Maple Creek.

The Frontier boys will also be off to Maple Creek and both the Shaunavon girls and boys will be in Swift Current to take on the Jr Ardens and Jr Colts.

Looking back at last week's games, the Swift Current Junior Ardens started their season on a winning note by beating the visiting Gull Lake Lady Lions 60-34. 

The Ardens were led by Vanessa Clothier with 15 points while Brooklyn Choo-Foo and Kyla Morante both had 11. 

The Lady Lions had Leah Kozroski and Laura Fiddler with 11 each. 

The other girls’ game had Shaunavon host Herbert. 

The Silhouettes came away with a 53-26 victory. 

Hannah McNeil had 21 points while Emily Galey, Kortlynn Fuller and Courtney Bredahl all added 6. 

Montana Jacobson had 16 points for the Lady Laurels. 

Maple Creek had the bye in the first week.   The boys’ action saw the Shaunavon Shadows defeat the visiting Frontier Raiders 81-45. 

Nixen Voll led the way with 20 points while Kirkland Sutter added 18. 

The Raiders’ top scorers were Lawrence Loyola with 19 and Mark Cristoria with 11 points. 

The Maple Creek Rebels and Swift Current Jr Colts also played. 

However, the game had to be called due to an injury in the third quarter. 

At that point, Maple Creek was granted the victory as they were leading 61-34. 

The top scorers for the Rebels were Arthur Fritzke with 25 and Justice Smith with 20. 

The Jr Colts had three players with 7 points – Tanner Scott, Einar Dela Cruz and Nolan Klein.
