A number of Saskatchewan residents recently received a nice surprise in the form of a rebate from SGI.

In order to carry on the good fortune, a number of local residents have decided to donate their SGI rebate to the Swift Current branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).

CMHA board chair Don Robinson and his wife Ihla began the donations as Executive Director with the Swift Current CMHA, Jacqui Willams explains.

"They thought it was kind of a nice little gift that they got from SGI. Not something they were expecting. So they thought they would like to make it purposeful and put it towards our new building."

Following Robinson's donation, local business owners Leanne Tuntland-Wiebe and her husband Randy along with their co-worker Sharon also matched the initial donation made.

Williams details where the donated money goes.

"Whenever anyone makes a donation here we always ask is this for the new building or is this for programs? And wherever they choose is where the money is allotted to. Our program budget and financing are completely separate from that new building project and financing."

Tuntland-Wiebe has also challenged other businesses, encouraging them to step up and put their rebate to good use.

Those wishing to donate can contact the Swift Current CMHA at 306-778-2440.
