The government of Saskatchewan released their plans for the upcoming school year, as to what will happen if a student or staff member shows signs of COVID-19.

All schools must have a designated isolation area for any students or staff presenting symptoms. If the student or staff cannot leave the school immediately, they will need to wait in the room. Students will be guided to the room by a staff member who must wear a medical mask and face shield, the student as well will be requested to wear a mask if they are able. They will also be supervised at all times while in the room.

Public Health will then be notified and decide what to do next. Extensive cleaning and disinfecting will then take place at and around the student's work area and other touchpoints.

If a teacher develops symptoms they must inform their school and provide alternative arrangments for in-class learning, as well as notify Public Health. If they are at school when they develop symptoms, they must leave immediately, and cleaning and disinfection will take place.

If a case is confirmed, the Saskatchewan Health Authority will then decide on what steps should be taken next. These steps could include self-isolation, self-monitoring, contact tracing, and/or testing.
