Raiders Defeat Millionaires

The Kabos Bantam 'AA' Raiders picked up their second win in three games last night in Balgonie.

On the road against the Prairie Storm, the Raiders managed to pull away in the third period to pick up a 6-3 victory.

The game got underway with Hendrik de Klerk taking an early tripping penalty putting Swift Current on the penalty kill.

However, 18 seconds into the penalty the Storm made the Raiders pay, going up 1-0.

Luckily for Swift Current it did not take long to answer the early goal.

Just under three minutes later Beau Larson put the Raiders back on even terms.

After the Prairie Storm regained the lead, Aaron Toews scored a power play goal making the score 2-2 heading into the first intermission.

After a four goal opening frame, only one goal was scored in the second.

On the power play, Mac Gross scored an unassisted marker to give the Raiders their first lead of the game, 3-2.

Just under two minutes into the final frame, Matthew Christianson quickly gave Swift Current a two goal lead, finding the back of the net and making the score 4-2.

As the clock continued to tick away on the Storm, is appeared as if the Raiders were set to cruise to victory, however with 2:02 remaining in the game the Storm beat Raiders goalie Brad Nyen, trimming the lead to one.

The tense final moments did not bother Swift Current though as Towes and Mitchell Braaten each found the back of the net in the final minute, putting the game to bed.

The Raiders will now be off until Saturday when they host the Humboldt Broncos.
