It's a busy week in Swift Current for the Salvation Army as they begin gearing up from their Christmas campaign.

Earlier this week the charitable organization began accepting Christmas hamper applications and will do so until later next week.

Major Don Grad with the Swift Current Salvation Army said they're ready to get things going.

"Things kick into high gear this Saturday, we have the opening of the Miracle Room which includes the Angel Tree of course," he said. "Our kettles kickoff this week."

Their goal for this year is to raise $220,000, just a couple thousand dollars shy of what they raised last year.

"Whether it's a $2 donation or $100 or whatever, everything adds up," Grad said. "Last year we hit I believe $226,000, so the people of Swift Current are amazingly generous and we're just excited."

Kettle locations this year will be at the Miracle Room, Walmart, Co-op, Pharmasave, and the Liquor Store.
