The Government of Saskatchewan is assisting child care facilities in providing safe environments for children and staff.

Gerry Craswell, the Assistant Deputy of Education said, "We're very pleased to be able to provide nearly 2 million dollars to the Early Learning and Child Care Centers and Homes. This is for personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves, cleaning supplies, sanitizing supplies,etc.."

Craswell added that this one time grant of $100 per child care space, from The Federal Safe Start Agreement, is intended to help the child care sector adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since March, the Saskatchewan Government has continued to provide centers with their operating grants and additional grants were also provided for centers that were designated to provide child care to those working or returning to work under the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan.

Early Childhood Education Workers also had their salaries topped up by $400 per month for each four week period, up to 16 weeks, from March 15-July 4 of 2020.
