Nominating outstanding volunteers for the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal is still possible.

Last week, Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield encouraged residents to nominate outstanding volunteers for the medal.

Schofield gave the statement in an August 15th release.

He says the medal was created to be able to pay tribute to individuals deserving of recognition for their generosity.

The medal, which was created in 1995, will be given out to the selected recipients in the spring of 2017.

The ceremony will take place during the 150th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada.

The nomination period will be open until October 18th.
