A young motocross rider from Swift Current recently returned home after several months of intense training in Waldo, Florida in preparation for this year's motocross season, which began this past weekend.

17-year-old Trehvan McMorris is a local motocross rider who's spent the past four years working towards his dream, and the past three months training hard to be on his A-game.

"We got down there in February," said McMorris. "We would wake up, go on our bike ride, we'd train for a good two hours, then after that, we'd go to the gym."

"Started back in 2020, since then carried on and it's just become my sport and my passion."

Towards the end of the month, McMorris will head to Weyburn for the 2024 SMA Race on May 26 where he'll have the opportunity to qualify for the Canadian Nationals.

He hopes to take his motocross career to the Saskatchewan Pro level and one day the National Pro level.

"I would like to see myself wind up on a Canadian Pro National line, that would probably be the goal," McMorris noted when asked where he sees himself with his motocross career in a couple of years.

"It was a really fun experience and I'd love to do it again."
