It's the final day that folks can help the Village of Abbey secure a fix for its curling rink!

Abbey is currently neck and neck with Radville in the BASF Growing Home competition, which would see $25,000 awarded to the winning community.

Jenn Biensch, the economic development officer for the Village of Abbey, has been hard at work pushing folks to do the only thing that helps, vote!

"This has been neck and neck for the last two weeks," said Biensch. "It's going to come down to the wire here at midnight tonight when the voting closes."

Abbey is in desperate need of funding for the local curling facilities, as last year during a curling bonspiel, the rink suffered a failure that left it in dire need of a fix. The problem is that the exact nature of the malfunction is expensive. Unless they get the capital to fix it during the offseason, the Village will be without their regular curling venue.

"Which is really just a hub of activity in the winter," said Beinsch. "It's just kind of a gathering place for the whole community."

If anyone would like to help them secure the lead, they can vote by heading to this website, and voting with as many emails as they have. It requires zero sign-up, and will not fill anyone's inbox with spam afterward.

"They don't even send you an email," confirmed Biensch.

Voting closes at midnight, with Radville vying for the top spot just as hard if not harder than Abbey. If anyone has the time, they are encouraged to vote at least once to help Abbey secure the $25,000 it needs.
