A familiar face will be back in council chambers for another term.

Following the results of last night's civic election, Ron Toles has been re-elected to city council.

Toles finished third overall in council voting with 2,792 votes.

Toles says he is thankful for the city's belief in him.

"I am very happy with the results," he said.

"I worked hard and it showed, and I thank the people of Swift Current for having faith and confidence in me."

Along with Toles, Ryan Plewis, Pet Friesen and George Bowditch were also re-elected, which Toles was happy to see.

"I am really, really glad the four of us are back as a team to work together," he said.

"We worked well, I said we didn't always agree, but we disagreed with respect. We shared our ideas and came to a consensus and once something was passed we all supported it because that is what you have to do. There is no use sitting in council saying 'Oh well, we should have never done that', that is just a negative. Once it is a majority, it is a democracy and we would all get behind it and go. I really respect the four that are back for a new term, and I am looking forward to the new two."

Toles then further spoke about his excitement to get to work with the newest members of Council.

"I think Bruce and Chris will be great additions to the team," he said.

"There are others who would have been great additions as well, but I am looking forward to working with both of these young men."

Toles was originally elected to city council in 2012.
