The Swift Current Ag & Ex recently announced that Rylie Anderson will be serving as the 2021 Frontier Days Ambassador.

Anderson lives on a farm near Success and is a senior at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School whose family has been heavily involved with rodeo life as she explains.

"My family have always been really involved with all of the rodeos around the community, especially Frontier Days. My dad has been working there forever, same with my mom and sister and I just thought it would be cool to throw my hat in the ring for a little while and do something. I haven't been able to work at the actual rodeo like they did but I think it would be a cool thing to actually do that."

Anderson says the application process involved filling out an application and completing an essay regarding why she would be a good fit for the ambassador position and her future goals, along with three letters of recommendation.

In terms of her reaction when she found out that she was selected, Anderson says she was shocked and thought "wait, really?" as she wasn't overly expecting to win but she was very happy that she was selected.

Anderson feels as though she is a people person and she will use this skill to her benefit and hopes that she can be someone that people are excited and happy to see carrying the flag.

She reflects on what she is looking forward to the most with the position.

"I think just getting to meet new people and getting to be around people. A lot of the time I know that a lot of it will be virtual with COVID and everything but I am still excited to get to know everyone and just learn some new things that I didn't know before especially about the Ag & Ex and Frontier Days."

Anderson adds that the Ag & Ex was also a huge part of her grandfather's life and although he is no longer with them, she feels as though he would be very proud of her.

Next year Anderson will be attending Briercrest College and Seminary and taking their pre-nursing program in the fall.
