The 3rd Annual Arnal Brothers hockey tournament was held on Feb 25 & 26. Teams from all over the south-west came to have fun, enjoy playing hockey and celebrating the lives of three boys that were killed in 2 separate farming accidents. In 2008 Blake died in an accident and his brothers Sean and Lyndon died in 2014. The family wanted to commemorate the boys in a way that showed their love of farming and all that it can be. They started a bursary program to allow any student in the Chinook School Division between 8 - 18 the opportunity to be aided in post-secondary education in farming related fields or if they had a project like raising a bison, a sheep, or a cow to apply and get assistance in getting started. The goal has been to help as many kids as possible find out the rewards of farming.

The weekend had 12 teams participating in three different categories. The Runts were 12 and under, the Yearlings 13 - 18, and the Crocks were 19 and over. Each division had 4 teams playing with squads made out of local south-west teams and a few, the Crocks, had players from as far away as Saskatoon. The weekend was about having fun, enjoying one another and celebrating life, remembering those who could not be here.

Chantel Henderson is the sister of the Arnal brothers and she helped organize the tournament. She felt the people who attended the tournament got behind the spirit of the event. "There was one of the recipients from last year, he and his family had wanted to donate money back to the bursary so they set a goal of $5,000 and they raised money through ice cream sales, candle holders and various donations," she said. "So they came to the hockey tournament having raised around $4,500, there were two brothers and a sister that all shaved their heads at the hockey tournament and that was part of how they raised these funds as well. Their grand total after raising some donations at the auction was $6,266.80." She feels that this is an example of how farming kids are raised and wants to continue the process of giving back to the farming community.

Henderson wanted to thank all who helped out, donated to the auction and just help celebrate a great weekend.
