Operation Crossroads, SGI's latest traffic safety blitz, wrapped up last week and saw over 500 tickets issued to Saskatchewan motorists.

"That included over 200 for improper or non-seatbelt use, more than 50 for cellphone use while driving, 38 for disobeying red lights or stop signs, and almost 90 for speeding," said Rebecca Rogoschewsky, the Media Relations Manager for the Crown insurer.

She says the main goal of the blitzes are to raise awareness and make our roads safer for Saskatchewan drivers, and while this blitz focused on safety at intersections, the tickets were issued all over the board.

"By having these blitzes, the media coverage as well as having officers out there enforcing these traffic safety laws is a good reminder for people to stay safe behind the wheel," Rogochewsky added.

The last SGI traffic blitz done this past June saw over 700 tickets issued for the same traffic offenses.
