In terms of position in the standings, it was a meaningless regular-season finale for the Swift Current 57's last night at Mitchell Field, though that didn't stop the home side from thrilling those in attendance.

Swift Current found themselves down 7-1 to the Regina Red Sox, and chipped away at the Red Sox lead, including a ninth-inning home run by catcher Tanner Holen, but the 57's fell just short in a 7-6 loss.

The game was played in front of 794 fans - a season-high that boosted the 57's attendance from 301 fans per game, up to 320. That figure was totaled up over 28 home contests this season.

57's fans may not want to stray too far from Mitchell Field in the coming days, as the red-hot club is 9-1 in their last ten games, and 17-3 in their last 20 heading into the post-season.

Locking up second place in the WCBL's Eastern Division, the 57's (38-18) will open their divisional semi-final series with the third-seeded Weyburn Beavers (33-22) on Thursday.

The first tilt in the best-of-three battle is set for 7:05 at Mitchell Field - we'll have the in-depth 57's-Beavers preview, including comments from 57's head coach Joe Carnahan, on Swift Current Online tomorrow.
