For a second straight game, the Swift Current 57's bullpen couldn't hold onto a late lead.

Coming off a loss in Medicine Hat on Friday, Swift Current fell 8-7 in game one of their seven-inning doubleheader with the Brooks Bombers.

The 57's raced out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the second inning and held a 7-3 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Bombers left fielder Jake Griffith hit the walk-off RBI single.

Second baseman Koby Bubash had three of Swift Current's four hits in the game, scoring twice himself, and collecting an RBI.

Will Gifford threw six innings with six strikeouts for the 57's while surrendering three earned runs.

Game Two

A couple of multi-run innings for the Bombers in game two was enough to propel them to an 8-5 win.

Brooks scored once in the third, three in the fourth, and four in the fifth. The 57's replied with a pair in the fourth and sixth and once more in the seventh.

Swift Current's left fielder Luke Addison hit a two-run homer in the loss and went 2-for-3 collecting three RBIs.

Hometown pitcher Dawson Schultz started the game going three and two-thirds allowing four earned runs with three strikeouts.

Swift Current is now 2-6 on the season and will be in Regina tomorrow night to face the 3-5 Red Sox.

Minor Ball results

The Swift Current U-18 AAA 57’s took two of four in Saskatoon, losing 8-4 to the Cubs before beating them 7-6 on Saturday, and then won 9-6 against the Giants before losing 15-2 to them on Sunday. 

The Kal Tire U15 AAA 57’s won 7-2 and lost 11-1 to the Saskatoon Astros on Saturday and then won 5-4 and lost 12-1 to the Saskatoon Brewers on Sunday. 

The Black Diamond Energy Solutions U13 AAA 57’s hosted their home tournament on the weekend, going 2-1 in round robin with wins over the Saskatoon Braves and Calgary Bison and a loss to the Saskatoon A’s. They fell in the semi-final 17-16 to the Saskatoon Cardinals.
