The second annual Southwest Scavenger Quest took place this past Saturday, and was another big success for Southwest Crisis Services.

"We had a great day despite the weather, it was a little bit on the chilly side, but we had eager teams, and they were game to go out and have a fun afternoon," said Teresa Cole, Executive Director of Southwest Crisis Services. "We are really pleased to report that between our pledges and sponsorship funds, we raised over $7000 for our programs."

The scavenger quest is an "Amazing Race" type scavenger hunt through Swift Current where teams of up to five people collect pledges and take part in activities throughout the city. The winning team was a group of employees from Golden West Radio in Swift Current.

Southwest Crisis Services is now getting set for the launch of their next major fundraiser, the 25th anniversary edition of the Duck Derby set for June 2nd in conjunction with Innovation Credit Union's "Picnic Inn the Park." Cole says preparations for the Duck Derby are going very well, and they will launch ticket sales later this week.

"It's going to be a very special year for us," she added. "We've got some wonderful prizes. Again this year, we've got a WestJet return trip for two anywhere they fly on one of our tickets, and we've got some other fabulous prizes for our regular tickets, as well as some additional draws this year. In order to celebrate our 25th anniversary, on any of our regular tickets, we're giving people a chance at 25 prizes of $25.00."

Cole adds tickets for the Duck Derby will go on sale through the month of May at the Wheatland Mall on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, or through various local businesses, including all Innovation Credit Union branches in the southwest.
