The Eastend Fire Department recently held their 7th Annual Poker Run, raising money for the local fire department.

Clint Davisson is The Assistant Deputy of The Eastend Fire Department and the head of the organizing committee for The Poker Run. He explained how a Poker Run works. "Just to get out and go for the ride or a drive on your motorcycle, or your hot rod or classic car..whatever it may be. And there'll be stops along the route and you collect a card at every stop for a hand. At the end you'll have five cards. And the best poker hand wins the $1,000 cash grand prize."

Due to a rainy start to the weekend, the Poker Run had a lower turn out this year than in other years, with 7 motorcycles, 3 cars, and a total of 18 people taking part.

Davisson says the final dollar amount raised isn't available yet, but all money raised goes back to the Eastend Fire Department for equipment and operations.

Last years Poker Run raised a little over $2,000.
