There was a long ballot in the civic elections in Cabri.

The mayor's race had incumbent David Gossard facing a challenge from Don Petersen, while 14 candidates were running for six town council positions.

In the end, David Gossard won a second term as mayor in Wednesday's election.

"We've always kind of preached out here in Cabri, if you're not happy with how things are things are going or you think there's a better way to do things, don't complain, put your name on the list for council," said Gossard, slightly surprised with how many people let their name stand for council, "we certainly had a good turnout and I think that bodes well for the future."

Gossard added economic development will be a key focus for him and his council over the next four years.

"We have to try and keep people in the town, Cabri has fallen down below 400 people now, so we have to find a way to keep people here, the school is important, the healthcare facility with our doctors are an important issue, new businesses and all that."

Cabri Town Council will consist of Wendy Johnson, Kendall Wicks, Chris Paquin, Mark Bang, Kim Gehl and Norma Pederson.
