It's been an up and down month for weather here in the southwest.

After starting the month off with not much in terms of snowfall, approximately 19 centimetres of snow has fallen in the Swift Current area as of late.  The recent snowfall put the region just above the average of 15 centimetres that is normally received at this time.

Doug Judiesch of the Swift Current Research Station says temperatures also were on opposite ends of the spectrum to start and end the month.  He says we set a new record high to kick off December, before experiencing the fourth-coldest week on record shortly after that.

Judiesch adds, during that span of below -20 temperatures, the normal highs should have been around -9.
