The Saskatchewan Health Authority reported 182 new cases of the COVID-19 virus in the province yesterday.

That brings the total number of cases in Saskatchewan to 79,212, with 1,428 considered active.

The new cases were:

  • Far North West (3),
  • Far North East (4),
  • North West (16),
  • North Central (11),
  • Saskatoon (26),
  • Central West (5),
  • Central East (27),
  • Regina (36),
  • South West (5),
  • South Central (6) 
  • South East (38) zones and
  • five (5) new cases have pending residence information.

Just over one-third of new cases are 11 years of age or younger (34.1 percent) while 37.5 percent of new cases are fully vaccinated individuals.  Hospitalizations, however, remain largely unvaccinated.  178 residents are in the hospital.  129 are receiving inpatient care, 49 are in the ICU, and 13 residents are being treated in out-of-province ICU departments.  110 of the 178 patients are not fully vaccinated (61.8 percent)

There have been 8 more deaths due to the COVID-19 virus, bringing that total number to 886.

Here in the southwest, there were 5 new cases of the virus reported.  4 of those were in southwest sub-zone one and 1 was in southwest sub-zone 2.

The region now has 32 active cases, split roughly evenly between the two subzones (17 in SW1 and 15 in SW2).  One resident remains hospitalized while 34 residents in total have passed away since the beginning of the pandemic.

The province is also reporting that 815,027 residents are now fully vaccinated.
