Families have responded positively to the ban on alcohol over the May long weekend.

Kevin Engel, Manager of Southern Park Operations says a few parks saw a decrease in attendance but others had an increase of around 8 per cent.

Cypress Hills and Saskatchewan Landing both saw an increase due to the more family friendly alcohol-free atmosphere.

Engel says the main reason for the decrease in other parks was due to poor weather rather than the ban on alcohol, adding some areas of the province received snow over the weekend.
