A lot of action on and off the ice during a hockey game in Swift Current Wednesday night.

Late in a game between the Midget A Wild and Unity, an apparent fight broke out in the stands at the Credit Union iplex, and RCMP were called to step in.

"Apparently, due to the game itself and the lopsided score, there were some frustrated fans that were getting involved in some disturbances," said Staff Sergeant Al MacDonnell with the City RCMP Detachment. "Our members attended and spoke to a number of people. There were no charges laid as a result of their attendance."

The Wild lost the provincial playoff game 12-1.

Last season, a number of minor hockey playoff games were marked with altercations and other incidents involving fans, but MacDonnell says they haven't had to deal with a lot of those incidents this season.

"This year's been rather unremarkable as far as that type of incident that has occurred," he added. "This has been really the lone one that can recall at this time."
