The Annual General Meeting of the Shaunavon Credit Union goes tonight in Christ the King Church Hall and it's going to be a very important meeting for members.

Tonight, the vote will be taken on whether or not the local Credit Union will amalgamate with Affinity Credit Union.

"We are going to put the presentation of the amalgamation up front in the early part of the meeting," said SCU General Manager Chuck Gartner. "They include presentations from [board members] Owen Sebastian and Linda Kutschall, and from there, we'll present the actual amalgamation resolution and procedures for voting."

There needs to be at least 75% in favor of the amalgamation for it to go ahead.

Other items on the agenda include the report on 2013 operations and presentation of financial statements, and the appointment of an auditor.

"The operations were close to a repeat from the previous year, which were a successful year," Gartner said. "We had a strong bottom line, profitability was strong, growth was strong as well, and we achieved most of our targets for the year."

Gartner says profits in 2013 reached $701,998, deposit growth was at 8.85%, and loan growth was 24%.

Registration is at 5:30pm, supper, which is sold out, at 6:00pm and the meeting begins at 7:00pm.
