Yesterday, the Liberal government's first budget is a sunny ways blueprint with billion-dollar spending increases in a bold effort to spur economic growth.

But the budget adds more than 100-billion dollars to the federal debt over the next five years.

Billions more will be spent on infrastructure, Aboriginal Peoples and transfers to middle and lower income Canadians.

Conservative MP for Cypress Hills-Grasslands, David Anderson says says the spending and deficit projections are worse than he ever imagined.

"How can they possibly run a $30 billion deficit on a budget that's as fragmented as this one is? And it doesn't help Saskatchewan," he said. "The EI changes that they talk about apply to Alberta but they don't apply in southwestern/southeastern Saskatchewan in our oil patch."

He said the infrastructure dollars that the Liberals annouces are mainly geared towards cities, saying Saskatchewan is expected to only receive $29 million  in this budget.

Anderson says today MPs mourn the loss of Jim Hillyer - a 41-year-old Conservative MP who represented the riding of Medicine Hat–Cardston–Warner.

"He certainly loved what he was doing. He had come down here to the budget, even though he wasn't feeling well, and unfortunately passed away last night. So on Wednesday, we'll hear tributes to him and then we'll come back on Thursday with our regular day and there will be a debate and Question Period, as well," Anderson said.

Following Question Period on Thursday, MPs will return to the ridings for a two-week Easter break.
