More strong results for the Swift Current Comp. Badminton in their final weekend of play before playoffs start.

Sending athletes to tournaments in both Moose Jaw and Maple Creek, Swift Current came away with three medals over the weekend.

In Moose Jaw, Sim Singh won the bronze medal in boy's single.

Singh (Gr. 11) finished second in his pool with a record of 2-1 with wins over Moose Jaw Peacock and Craik. He lost in 3 to Kincaid. Sim won against Assiniboia in the quarter final 21-19 and 21-9. He lost his semi final against Kincaid 21-9, 15-21 and 22-24, before winning the bronze medal match vs. Cornach 21-10 and 21-18.

The mixed doubles tandem of Shelby Warren and Cole Bissonnette came away with a silver medal.

They finished first in their pool with a 3-0 record with wins over two teams from Moose Jaw Peacock and the team from Craik. They then won their quarter final vs. Cornerstone 21-17 and 21-16. In the semi-finals they defeated Gravelbourg 21-15, 15-21 and 21-16. They played Regina O’Neil in the final and lost 11-21 and 11-21.

In Leader, Jaylyn Bell and Ethan Warkentin also finished with a silver medal in mixed doubles.

In pool play they finished first with a 4-0 record and wins over Maple Creek, Fox Valley 1, Leader and Frontier. They won their semi final over the second Fox Valley team 21-13 and 21-13. They then lost a close final against the first Fox Valley team 16-21, 21-18 and 16-21.

The road to provincials begins this Saturday with the Rolling Hills sectional, which will be played at the Swift Current Comp.
