The Swift Current Rural RCMP arrested a man on Monday that allegedly had over 100 items of stolen property on a rural property east of the city.

A warrant had been issued for 55-year-old Neil Olson back on October 21, and police found him in Swift Current on Monday.

Police say the stolen property ranged from small items to trailers and farm equipment.

Swift Current Rural RCMP Sergeant Scott Hunter said it's hard to estimate the total value of the goods, since they're still itemizing them, and also because some of it is used.

The threshold in the Criminal Code is $5,000, so Olson's charges are possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and theft of electricity.

A tip of suspicious activity at the rural property led to the search. Police believe there could be more people involved.

"That's still part of the investigation, just due to the volume of items found," Hunter said. "We do suspect that there may be other people involved, but that's yet to be determined. It's still part of the investigation."

Hunter said they plan on getting all the items back to their owners to the best of their ability.

"Well it's not uncommon for us to find stolen property, but there's quite a large amount of stolen property at this one location. And that's why we recommend people mark items, because there's nothing more frustrating for an officer than to find something that we're confident is stolen, but in order to prove it, for one, or second, to be able to return it to its rightful owner."

Olson is scheduled to appear in Swift Current Provincial Court today for a bail hearing after making his first appearance yesterday and being remanded back into custody.
