The annual Southwest Open Exhibition is back — an opportunity for local artists to show off their work to the community.

Morghie Flaterud, programming and administration coordinator for The Art Gallery of Swift Current, said anyone can submit their art to the non-curated show.

“We accept any and all mediums, they just have to fit within our size requirements,” she said. “So, as long as artwork is 48 by 48 and suitable for an all ages audience, then you are good to go. All the guidelines are in the application form.”

The exhibition will don the walls of the West Wing Gallery from June 27 to August 18, with a public reception on June 13 to give residents an opportunity to connect with the artists.

Swift Current Allied Arts Council has sponsored a mentorship aspect this year; anyone who enters the exhibition has a chance to learn from and engage with a professional artist or curator.

“It’s a really good first step to getting your artwork out there,” Flaterud said.

The deadline to enter is May 24th. Find the application here.
