Local kids will have the opportunity to take to the stage this week as Missoula Children's Theatre comes to Swift Current for the seventh year.

This year's production is a musical comedy rendition of Rapunzel and Stacie Noble-Wiebe, Chair of the Koncerts 4 Kids committee who works to bring this program to the city each year explains the Missoula program, which is based out of Missoula,Montana.

"Two people who are actors and directors pull up in this little red truck that has everything they need to put on a musical. The set, the lights, the costumes, the props, the makeup but they don't have a cast. So that is where the kids here in Swift Current come in is they get to go out and audition and they are the actors in the musical."

Children in grades K-8 are invited to audition as Noble-Weibe explains.

"The auditions are Monday September, 28th from 3:45pm-5:45pm in the Central School auditorium. They don't have to do anything to prepare they just have to show up with a smile and be ready to give it all a try."

Rehearsals will begin directly after auditions and will continue each evening this week until the final performance on Saturday.

Noble-Weibe adds that when you see the performance on Saturday it's hard to believe they just started working on it on Monday.

Those who are cast in the show are reminded that they will be asked to put any other activites on hold this week as they will be expected to attend rehearsal each evening.

Noble-Weibe says the committee is grateful to the local businesses and service groups who have donated money to enable this program to happen.

The production will be performed on Saturday October, 3rd at 3:00pm at the Sky Center and tickets are available at Pharmasave
