The Swift Current City Fire Department responded to a baler fire near Waldeck Saturday afternoon.

At around 12:45, fire crews were called to a field where a round baler was burning. When they arrived, the baler was engulfed in flames, and the field surrounding it was also on fire. It took firefighters two hours to put out the fires.

The baler was extensively damaged and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

This is the second fire involving a baler that city fire crews have dealt with in the last two weeks. Another baler caught fire while it was being hauled by a semi on the Trans-Canada Highway near Waldeck just after midnight on July 16th.
