Maple Creek will see another Battle of Little Big Puck Friday night, an event that has been 33 years in the making.

"It started out just as a fun little argument between friends about who was better," said Gail Kesslar, Executive Director of the Cypress Hills Destination Area. "It's probably one of the last few places where you'll hear 'Cowboys vs. Indians', but it's never done with an intent of racial profiling or any kind of disrespect, it's all in fun to raise funds for community projects all around Maple Creek and the surrounding area.

"It's something that you'll see local area ranchers coming out in traditional cowboy garb, and you'll see First Nations people from around the area coming out in traditional regalia," she added. "They'll play hockey with cheers from the crowd and refereeing from RCMP members also dressed in Red Serge. It's partially tongue in cheek, and partially some serious rivalry, and just a great event all around."

Kesslar says the proceeds will go towards their New Hospital Equipment Fund, adding that this event is usually sold out. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

Face-off is at 7:30pm from the Maple Creek Arena.
