The Great Plains College SunDogs Women's Volleyball team will face off against the Millar Edge in the annual Battle of the Southwest on Wednesday night.

Going into the matchup the SunDogs are 0-6, but head coach Morgan Halyk believes they've improved since the early stages of the season.

"We have eight rookies and one veteran so that's a lot to overcome right at the beginning," Halyk said. "It the few short months we have been together you can see a huge difference."

Halyk says they've had close sets with every team they've played, but they need to find a way to get the last few points of the game.

Meanwhile, the men's SunDogs are 6-0 so far this season. Histry in the Battle of the Southwest isn't on their side. The men are 0-5 at the event while the women have the only victory for Great Plains College when they beat Miller in 2009.

The women's match goes at 6:30pm while the men square off at 8pm.
