There were some tricky road and weather conditions this afternoon.

Environment Canada issued a blizzard warning for this afternoon for southwest Saskatchewan, from the Alberta border to Swift Current. It has since ended for the Swift Current area, but continues in the Cypress Hills, Maple Creek, Leader, Shaunavon and Gull Lake areas.

Through this evening, wind gusts up to 60km/h are picking up loose snow, and could result in zero visibility in some areas, in fact, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure is not recommending travel on highways in the Maple Creek area, including highway one from the Alberta Border to Gull Lake, and highway 21 from the Cypress Hills through to Leader.

Other southwest highways report near-zero visibility, and drifting snow.

Weather conditions are expected to improve as we head into the overnight hours.
