Justin Lies scored twice to lead the Flin Flon Bombers to a 5-2 road win over the Battlefords North Stars and a commanding 3-0 lead in the SJHL semi-final.

Koen Senft, Carter Anderson and Noah Houle also scored for the Bombers while Kian Bell had both goals for the Stars.

Game four of the series is tonight in North Battleford. Game three of the other semi-final between the Humboldt Broncos and Melfort Mustangs goes tonight at Elgar Petersen Arena with the Mustangs up 2-0.

Leafs beat surging Penguins in OT

Jake McCabe scored 1:30 into overtime to lift the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night. Auston Matthews scored his 65th goal of the season and Matthew Kines also scored for the Leafs. Rickard Rikell scored for the Penguins, who are tied with the Detroit Red Wings for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Meanwhile, Conor Garland scored twice, including the game-winner with 1:29 left in regulation, as the Vancouver Canucks earned a 4-3 comeback win over the Vegas Golden Knights. Brock Boeser scored his 40th goal of the season and Quinn Hughes also scored for the Canucks, who are five points clear of the Edmonton Oilers for first in the Pacific Division.

NHL action tonight has Montreal hosting Philadelphia, Ottawa visiting Florida, Toronto hosting New Jersey, Winnipeg travelling to Nashville and San Jose hosting Calgary.

USA gets OT win over Canada at Women's Worlds

Kristen Simms scored 3:32 into overtime to give the United States a 1-0 win over Team Canada at the Women's World Hockey Championship in Utica, New York. Both teams were unbeaten heading into the game.

Canada will face Sweden in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Jays win home opener over Mariners

Jose Berrios threw 6-2/3 shutout innings and Davis Schneider drove in two runs as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Seattle Mariners 5-2 in front of a sold-out crowd of 40,069 in their home opener at Rogers Centre.

The two teams play again tonight with Chris Bassitt on the mound for the Jays.
