It seems as though our strong economy is also having an influence on inflation in the province.

Statistics Canada reports that the National inflation rate was 3.1 percent, while here in Saskatchewan, the rate was 3.4 percent.

Prince Edward Island led all the provinces with prices increasing by 4.7 percent.  Manitobans enjoyed the smallest jump in consumer prices with 2.4 percent inflation.

Overall, shelter costs went up 9.8 percent in Saskatchewan last year.  That includes a 5.5 percent jump in the cost of rental accommodations, and a 16.1 percent increase in the cost of owned homes.
