Shaunavon held their Boomtown Cup Lawnmower Race last Saturday

The Boomtown Days had a good old-fashioned lawnmower race this past Saturday hoping to raise funds for the Perk Our Parks Splash Park Project.

Two carts were auctioned off and raised $10,000 for the project. The funds from the race itself are still unknown at this time but said to be a substantial amount.

There was a grand total of 17 racers partaking in mowing grass and driving fast. The third placeholder is Daniel Gardner, second place is Ian Morstad and first place was Noel Entem.

Racer and Committee member Riley Kornfeld shared his thoughts on the event.

"The turnout exceeded our expectations, it went over way better than we thought it would," he added, "I thought it was great, it was a lot of fun it seemed like everybody that was there quite enjoyed themselves and it was great to see all the people volunteer to help out and help make it a success."

Kornfeld said that they are going to continue the event for many years to come.
