Boston Pizza in Swift Current and around the province is joining the fund-raising effort for victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

The natural disaster severely crippled communities throughout the Philippines and elsewhere in the region.

"(On Monday November 25th) we're donating $5 of every medium and large pizza sold across Saskatchewan," said Boston Pizza Swift Current General Manager Wade Jensen.

He was touched by the way the storm has touched people in our community and even in his restaurant.

"Chain wide we have quite a few people from the Philippines working for us," Jensen said. "I actually personally have one of my guys who works for me his parent's house was washed away."

"Seeing the pain in his eyes made me want to help as much as I possibly could."

The company itself is also stepping up with money.

"We're also being backed by Boston Pizza International," Jensen added. "Any money we raise they're going to match up to $50,000." Tuesday's fundraiser for victims of Typhoon Haiyan was a big success for the local Filipino community.

The Filipino Association of Swift Current and Newcomer Welcome Centre raised $21,485 in a fundraiser last week.
