The Swift Current Broncos were riding high with a power play working at over 40% until they ran into the Calgary Hitmen.
Calgary held Swift Current to 1 for 13 on the man advantage in the home and home series between the two clubs. That included two extended 5 on 3 opportunities in the second period of Tuesday's game.
"Those are always huge game shifters," said Broncos Assistant Coach Andy Schneider. "We missed the net a lot on our shots, (Calgary) did a good job penalty killing."
The Hitmen won both games by a combined score of 12-2. The losses drop Swift Current's record to 4-7-1-0.
Schneider believes teams are focusing in on their power play.
"They know that our power play was up around 40% and they are probably watching a lot of video," said Schneider.
The coaching staff has until Friday in Prince Albert to make any adjustments. Swift Current also needs to get off to a better start after giving up the first goal in seven straight games and falling into a multiple goal hole in each of their last four games.
