The Swift Current Broncos used the 11th overall pick at the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft to take Defenseman Dillon Heatherington out of Calgary.

Heatherington says he is very excited to be drafted by the Broncos, and adds it's the best feeling in the world to get drafted.  He knows that Swift Current is a great hockey town, saying "I know that it's a small town; all the farmers coming into the games, so the crowd is spectacular, and it should be a great experience."

Heatherington adds that he will bring a lot to the table, saying he's a fantastic skater, overall a great defenceman; he makes amazing plays in the D-zone, but also joins the rush to make a play and put the puck in the net.

Broncos Director of Player Personnel Jamie Porter says the club has had Heatherington in their sights for a while.  "He's a guy we targeted for the last month and a half.  We were a little worried that his play as of late, especially in the Alberta Cup, would elevate his status and we wouldn't get him in the 11th spot.  He's a solid, all-around guy.  We like his offensive upside.  We like the way he plays in his own zone.  He's a very good skater, and we think he's going to grow more; we think he might top out at 6' 4."

The Prince George Cougars used the first overall pick to snag the top-scoring rookie in the Saskatchewan Midget Triple AAA Hockey League, Alex Forsberg.
