Glenn Gawdin scored once and had an assist leading the Swift Current Broncos over Seattle 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

It was the second straight game where the Broncos took a 2-1 lead into the third period. They lost 3-2 to Prince Albert in the shootout on Saturday, but held on against the Thunderbirds on Sunday.

"We played a good and smart third period," Gawdin said. "We had a couple of chances that we took and some of them we didn't think anything was going we just dumped it in and played it safe. I think we did a good job today."

For the Broncos it was about finding a balance between playing safe hockey and hanging back too much. They were guilty of backing off against the Raiders on Saturday, but felt they had a better balance against Seattle.

"We didn't just sit back and allow them to fire away at will," said Broncos associate coach Josh Dixon. "We had some chances in the third. We managed the puck well. We didn't force plays that weren't there and we played strong defensively as well."

"Whenever you have a lead you don't want to sit back and change what you were doing to get yourself in that position in the first place."

Dixon liked the way his team responded emotionally after Saturday's game.

"I liked our emotional level all night," he noted. "Right from warm up you could tell the guys were into it. They were very upset and disappointed with the loss (Saturday) night and we talked a lot about making sure that emotion was in the game."

Despite outshooting Seattle 9-4 in the first period the Broncos found themselves in 1-0 deficit thanks to Ethan Bear's third of the season. Colby Cave responded for Swift Current on the power play early in the second period with his eighth goal in ten games. Cave walked out of the corner on the power play and waited for Taran Kozun to open his five hole and finding the back of the net.

An assist on that goal extended Coda Gordon's point streak to fourteen games.

Gawdin's winner came only 1:14 after the Broncos had tied the game.

"Just a good shot by (Brett) Lernout," Gawdin noted. "The rebound came right to me and I just shot it."

Landon Bow made 23 saves for the Broncos to earn the win. Kozun stopped 25 of the 27 shots he faced in a losing cause.

Swift Current now has earned a least a point in nine of their last ten games. They have at least a point in twelve of the fifteen games they've played since coming back from their BC road trip.
