The Swift Current Comp High School Colts football team fell 60-7 to the Weyburn Eagles at home on Saturday to fall to 0-2 on the season. The Colts will host the Yorkton Raiders in their second and final regular season home game this coming Saturday.

Meanwhile, the 9-man High School football season got underway on Friday with the Shaunavon Shadows beating Gull Lake 59-0 and Notre Dame defeating Maple Creek 44-14.

In high school volleyball, the SCCHS Senior Ardens came out on top in the 16-team Mega Cup tournament in Regina, cruising through the playoffs without dropping a set and beating Lebouldus 25-21, 25-18 to capture the title. The Senior Colts volleyball team picked up silver at the University of Saskatchewan Huskies tournament, falling in the final to Regina's Winston Knoll Collegiate 25-17, 23-25, 10-15.

In minor football, the U12 Steelers beat the Weyburn Ravens 26-0, and the U14 Steelers fell 23-0 to the Weyburn Falcons on Saturday. 

Jays sweep Red Sox to stay in playoff hunt

Matt Chapman hit a walk-off double to give the Toronto Blue Jays a 3-2 win over the Boston Red Sox and a three-game sweep when they needed it the most.

The Jays, who were coming off a four-game sweep at the hands of the Texas Rangers last week, are now a half-game ahead of Texas for second wild card spot in the American League with 12 games left in the regular season, all against the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays.

Toronto has the day off before starting a three-game set with the Yankees in the Bronx on Tuesday.

Elks come from behind to beat Riders

Kevin Brown ran for a career-high 175 yards and a touchdown and Tre Ford added 175 yards in the air with two majors as the Edmonton Elks came back from down 27-20 after three quarters to beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 36-27 on Friday night for their fourth win in five games.

Jake Dolegala threw for 213 yards and three touchdowns for the Riders, who lost their second game in a row and fell to 6-7 with five games left in the season. Saskatchewan will visit Ottawa in their next game on Friday.
