A 50-year-old Calgary man who is facing a drug charge has been sentenced in Swift Current Provincial Court.

Don Wayne Ng entered a guilty plea to a production of marijuana charge.

He was charged on August 1, 2008, after a traffic stop on the #1 highway uncovered 285 marijuana plants, growing equipment, and around $10,000 in cash in the trunk of his car.

The judge sentenced Ng to an 18-month conditional sentence with house arrest for the first nine months, and he must complete 240 hours of community service.  He is not allowed to possess any firearms, and must provide a DNA sample.
