Some advice for canola growers who plan to store their crop over the winter.

Agronomist Matt Stanford, with the Canola Council of Canada, there are a number of things producers need to know about proper storage.

Stanford says the bins need to be free from chaff, and seeds, and clean of malathion residue.

He says malathion is not registered for stored canola, and residue found in seed shipments sent to foreign markets runs the risk of damaging those markets.

The bins should also be well sealed to keep out water and rodents and insects.
